It’s time to tap the trees and get that fresh maple syrup flowing.
The Grey Bruce local of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association is hosting its “First Tapping Ceremony” in Holstein.
President Nick Bereznik says MP Larry Miller, Southgate Mayor Don Lewis and West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles are the guest tappers.
The ceremony is at Love’s Sweetness Sugarbush in Holstein at 11 AM tomorrow.
The Optimist Club in Holstein is also holding a pancake breakfast from 10 AM to 2 PM at a cost of six dollars each.
Bereznik says some maple syrup tapping has already started especially south of the area.
He says some trees can produce sap for up to six weeks.
What they needs is overnight temperatures near minus five and daytime readings around plus five.
