Arran-Elderslie Council is looking into having an independent audit done of its property and building files.
A resident has asked to see the files over concerns that proper procedures were not being followed but his request to municipal staff was rejected.
At a recent council meeting, it was mentioned that the resident had dealt with staff in a rude and harassing manner.
Councillor Ross Herron says the files are not for public knowledge unless written permission is granted from the person whose property they are about.
Herron says they are not for public knowledge and nor should they be.
Herron introduced a motion to have the resident banned from the municipal office for a year because of his behaviour.
The motion was withdrawn but a warning was issued to the resident.
Herron says research is being done on a possible audit of the building department files and a decision on whether to proceed will be made when they find out if someone to perform the audit is available.
