A provincial study suggests major changes to the way tourism is operated in our region.
It was conducted by MPP Greg Sorbara – and calls for one association to represent Kincardine to Tobermory and east through Owen Sound, to Muskoka.
Sorbara suggests it could be the Muskoka-Georgian Bay region.
Both Grey County Tourism Manager Bryan Plumstead and Bruce County Tourism
Plumstead says residents have to remember, nothing is set in stone.
He says this is simply a stepping stone to improving tourism, and merely one suggestion.
Plumstead also says, while the new boundaries may not be desirable, the fact that tourism in Ontario is being looked at in depth IS.
He says they will continue to work on a potential Georgian Bay circle tour, and nothing changes as of yet.
Meanwhile, Hughes echos sentiments of Plumstead.
He understands the purpose of the plan – but isn’t changing his plans anytime soon either.
Hughes says he will continue to promote Bruce County and it’s hot spots – and won’t fall into any political games.
Earlier this month, Sorbara told us there are too many tourist organizations doing the same job – so streamlining their efforts would be more effective and less confusing to tourists.
He also calmed fears by saying no small community would get lost in the shuffle.
