No one is saying whether any job cuts are coming to Transcontinental RBW Graphics in Owen Sound.
But the company is laying off 10 per cent of it’s North American workforce.
An official in Montreal will only say 40 per cent of the job cuts are in Canada, 50 per cent in the U-S and 10 per cent in Mexico.
In all 15 hundred jobs are being eliminated.
Transcontinental says in a news release — commercial printing projects, direct mail projects and magazine ad placements have been cancelled or postponed.
The Montreal-based printer and media company has also put a freeze on hiring and will introduce unpaid leave, reduced work weeks and other cost-cutting measures.
Transcontinental RBW Graphics in Owen Sound recently won a multi year, 210 million dollar contract to handle all the printing for Rogers, including MacLeans Magazine and Chatelaine.
In the 2nd half of 2008, Transcontinental added 130 workers in two stages, bringing the workforce in Owen Sound to well over 700.
Again, no word on whether any job cuts are happening in Owen Sound.
