Monday was Family Day and many people in our area are gathering together to take advantage of the time off.
A few people Bayshore Broadcasting News spoke to say they were looking forward to a family dinner and time to catch up with family and friends.
Some people planned to ski or go skating and others will be taking their families out for dinner and to a movie.
But not everyone got Family Day off.
It’s a provincial holiday which means federally regulated businesses like broadcasters, the police and Federal government offices don’t get the day off.
Many people we spoke to feel Family Day should be a Canada-wide day off.
Kids in Simcoe County are getting an extra long weekend since Friday was a PD day for public elementary students.
