A third Algoma Central Vessel is now docked in the Owen Sound harbour.
Canadian Coast Guard Operations Officer Brian McDonald says the 223-metre long commercial carrier Algo Steel arrived about 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon.
The Samuel Risley, a 70 metre long Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker, met up with the Algo Steel off Cove Island near Tobermory Sunday morning and led the way into Owen Sound.
McDonald was warning recreational ice users to steer clear of the ships’ paths and warned ice conditions would be unstable as the Rizley broke through.
The Algo Steel joins the Algo Marine and the Agawa Canyon already docked in Owen Sound.
The ships winter there to undergo repairs.
McDonald says the Algo Steel was last in Milwaukee and was delayed by winter and ice conditions.
The Samuel Rizley is off to the St Clair and Detroit River system to help commercial vessels through the ice.
