Premier Doug Ford says the quest to build thousands of more long-term care beds in Ontario kicks off today in Durham.
The Premier says the Province inherited a broken long term care system that was decades in the making and now he’s building a better Ontario via 8,000 new long-term care beds to be built in the coming years.
“We’re all here today because we care about our seniors,” said Ford. “We want our seniors in our long term care homes to have a safe comfortable place to call home.”
Tens of thousands of people are on waiting lists for long term care beds in the Province.
Today Ontario set out to address that problem with the announcement of its first new LTC facility which will be located at the Ajax-Pickering health site which will have 320 new LTC beds by 2021.
Thank you to the men and women at @LakeridgeHealth who have worked tireless to keep their communities safe for months.
