Wasaga Beach Town council has launched the COVID-19 Business Recovery Task Force, its latest initiative to help the community during the pandemic.
Mayor Nina Bifolchi says The purpose of the task force is to determine how the town can help businesses and organizations in the weeks and months ahead recover from the impact of partial or full closures over the last two and a half months
Consultation will take place through a business survey and a residential survey on the town’s community engagement site.
“If the town is to provide meaningful assistance, we need to have a good understanding of what is required,” Mayor Bifolchi said.
The town will not duplicate assistance offered by federal and provincial governments.
Municipal efforts could include:
Tax measures, including suspension of interest and penalties;
Streamlining permits for licensing, planning, and building;
Adjustments to regulatory bylaws;
Modifications to business licence fees.
