Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is warning Canadians about a “text scam” that’s trying to exploit the new Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
During a news conference yesterday, Trudeau said some people are preying on the vulnerable during the pandemic.
The text messages say the relief fund has sent a deposit of almost 14-hundred dollars and when you click on the link, you’re brought to a fake government website, which asks for personal financial information.
Trudeau is reminding residents that the official government website is the best place to find out more about the progam, which is scheduled to start accepting applicants in April and would provide up to 2-thousand dollars a month.
