The Province is moving forward with 15 of the most promising health-related projects to fight Covid-19.
Today Premier Doug Ford says the first $7.2 million in Provincial funding for the projects is fueling ones that have the potential to be game changers in terms of finding a vaccine for the virus and other important studies.
“We’re a place for big ideas and we can achieve whatever we put our mind towards,” he said. “From insulin to stem cells to open heart surgery to HIV prevention, Ontario has pioneered life saving vaccines and treatments.”
Ford says Ontario can be a world leader and that Team Ontario can break new ground with its cutting edge clinical trials and vaccine studies.
Overall, Ontario is currently leading the country with 22 clinical trials investigating COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
Earlier on in the pandemic, the Provincial government provided $20 million to support best-in-class research facilities here in order to empower them and leverage their strengths.
