A family has been left temporarily homeless after a fire ripped through a Cumberland Beach home.
It broke out on Tuesday night on Lee Avenue and caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.
Officials say the cause of the fire is being investigated, but neighbours believe it may have started in the backyard shed.
The occupants of the home managed to escape safely, but will be staying in a hotel for the time-being.
A Facebook Group called Donations for Cumberland Beach Family has been set up to help provide donations.
A post on the page says:
“Thanks Wanda and neighbours for your concern , we are trying to watch the positive part about all of this and that’s that we have each other and we are safe.
Was scary but now we are safe at a hotel.
Thanks so much I can’t think about anything we need right now but whatever help from that group pls I will appreciate send to our PO BOX 79 , Cumberland beach.
Hopefully this pass soon.
Thanks,
Katia”
