Echoing Federal health officials, the Province is now recommending wearing a non -medical face mask or covering if you can’t keep two meters apart from others.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says we can’t lose site of the importance of social distancing.
“Please do not use medical masks,” she said. “These should be reserved for healthcare workers, those providing direct care and first responders. Instead you should use a cloth mask, your face covering should fit securely with ties or ear loops and be made of at least two layers of tightly woven material.”
As well, anyone travelling on public transit should wear a face covering too.
Health officials now want transit agencies to allow for physical distancing by distancing seats, the provision of hand sanitizers and enhanced cleaning of high touch areas.
Premier Doug Ford adds that as people adapt to the new normal, the Province will be watching trends like a hawk, looking at the rate of spread and for any sudden surges or flare ups.
Ford says he’s fully prepared to take every action necessary and he won’t hesitate to roll newly reopened privileges back if necessary.
