Canada and the United States have extended the closure of the border to all non-essential travel for another month.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed the measure this morning at Rideau Cottage.
“This is an important decision that will keep people in both of our countries safe,” he said.
All non-essential cross-border travel will be prohibited until June 21st, but essential trade, primarily consisting of tractor trailers, will continue.
The border has been closed since March 20, the closure was scheduled to expire on May 21.
Today the PM also announced eligibility changes to the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA).
This means you will now qualify for the CEBA if you are a sole business owner/operator, if you rely on contractors or you have a family business & pay staff through dividends.
