Premier Doug Ford is once again under fire for apparently breaking Ontario’s prescribed COVID-19 physical distancing measures.
Ford admitted yesterday that two of his daughters (who live in different households) visited his home for Mother’s Day weekend.
Ford told reporters yesterday, “The girls came over. There was six of us, direct family.”
Ontario’s COVID-19 website advises “staying at least two metres away from anyone outside your household.”
In a statement, the premier’s office said, “We understand that people want to spend more time with their friends, family and loved ones. Thanks to our collective efforts, we are now in a position where we can start to plan to ease public health measures.”
Ford has said before that people should “use their best judgment” when it comes to visiting older parents.
However, Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is among those saying “mixed messages” are being sent by Premier.
Ford was also recently questioned by reporters about a recent visit to his cottage in Muskoka to check on the plumbing.
We’ve started to reopen things safely, with strict public health measures in place. We have a long road ahead of us, but thanks to our collective efforts we’ve come a long way. pic.twitter.com/4WenFHZRet
