The final planning documents for the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project have been submitted.
Once the project receives approval from the Ontario Ministry of Health, the hospital can continue with an open tendering process, according to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
The redevelopment project includes an expansion and modernization of the Emergency Department, a new MRI suite as part of an updated Medical Imaging Department, and an expanded laboratory.
It also includes improvements to Food Services, a renovated lobby, and a decontamination room.
The President and CEO of South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Nancy Shaw, says that the hospital is now offering a virtual tour of the planned space.
Construction for the project is planned to begin in the late spring or early summer of 2027.
Capital redevelopment projects that are funded by the MOH are required to have a portion of the project be funded by the community.
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation has raised over $16 million for the renovation as part of its $18 million goal from the Building Health Care for Generations fundraising campaign.
