Owen Sound Police say a single vehicle collision early yesterday morning resulted in several charges against a teenager.
Emergency services were called just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning to the 2900 block of 3rd Avenue West, where police say a vehicle left the roadway and plunged about 20 feet down an embankment before settling along the Georgian Bay shoreline.
Images from the scene released by police show a heavily damaged car. It was lifted and cleared from the shoreline by a crane.
There were three people in the vehicle and city police say a pair of them left the scene before emergency services arrived, but were quickly located by officers.
“Two of the three occupants were assessed and treated at the scene by Grey County Paramedic Services,” Owen Sound Police say in a release. “The third occupant was transported to Brightshores Health System with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Owen Sound Police say a 15-year-old youth was arrested and charged with impaired operation, dangerous operation and taking a motor vehicle without consent. Police say the teen was also hit with a Highway Traffic Act offence for driving a motor vehicle with no licence.
The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
