Bruce Power has donated $1 million to the Eastridge Road Community Housing Development in Walkerton.
The 41-unit new build will provide much-needed affordable housing for Bruce County families, says Bruce Power’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President James Scongack.
“We know how important affordable housing is to communities across our region and the leadership demonstrated here by the County of Bruce and the Municipality of Brockton made us want to be a part of the project,” says Scongack. “We commend the County of Bruce for its leadership on this project and we look forward to watching each phase of the process.”
The total cost of the Bruce County Housing Corporation project is $16.4 million.
The development is meant to help meet the housing needs of workers across a range of sectors, including health care, child care, skilled trades, service industries, and other essential areas.
