The Ontario Clean Water Agency will conduct annual fire hydrant flushing and testing throughout the East Linton Water Distribution System from Sept. 29 to Oct. 16.
During normal operations, water may move slowly through portions of the distribution system, allowing naturally occurring sediment to accumulate within water mains.
Flushing hydrants increases water velocity through the system, helping to remove sediment and maintain consistent water quality.
Residents may experience lower-than-normal water pressure and temporary water discolouration during the flushing period. If discolouration occurs, run a cold water tap for four to five minutes, or until the water runs clear. Do not use hot water until the cold water runs clear, and avoid doing laundry until water clarity is restored to prevent possible staining.
