Meaford council will notify the public about a pre-development agreement between TransCanada Energy (TCE) and the municipality today.
The purpose of the report going to council is to inform the community of the formal execution of the three-year (2026 to 2028) pre-development agreement.
The pre-development agreement does not satisfy any of the conditions of the existing conditional willing host community support that council provided in February 2023.
Staff have reviewed and sought legal advice to ensure compliance with applicable law. As the contents of the agreement are likely to be subject to the third-party information provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), the agreement will not be proactively released publicly.
The agreement was based on the outline of a report to council on July 27.
