The provincial government has allocated more than $8.5 million to the County of Bruce to increase the availability of paramedics and ambulances.
“Access to reliable emergency care is incredibly important to families across our region,” says MPP of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Paul Vickers. “This funding will help support our paramedics and local ambulance services, while helping ensure ambulances can safely and quickly get back into our communities and respond when they are needed most.”
The province also provided Huron County with $8.4 million, bringing total regional funding to nearly $17 million. The base-funding increase helps municipalities offset rising costs so they can continue delivering high-quality emergency care. The allocation is part of the more than $1 billion in land ambulance funding Ontario is providing to municipalities this year, representing an average increase of 9 per cent from 2025.
In addition, Ontario is investing $33 million across the province through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program to hire nurses and other eligible health professionals dedicated to offloading ambulance patients in hospital emergency departments.
As a result of this investment and collaboration between paramedics and hospital professionals, provincial ambulance offload times have been reduced by approximately 68 per cent since their peak in October 2022.
