Grey Bruce OPP have introduced a new program called Comfort Companions, a community partnership dedicated to bringing support to children during difficult moments.
The program encourages local crafters and volunteers to create handmade crochet plushies and blankets for children experiencing trauma or crisis.
To ensure all donated items are safe and suitable for children, OPP ask that volunteers follow these guidelines:
– Items must be new and handmade
– Items must not contain small parts that could pose a choking hazard
– Used or gently used items cannot be accepted
– Donated items should have no monetary value attached
In addition to completed plushies and blankets, donations of new fabric and yarn are also welcome. Community volunteers will use these materials to create comfort items for children in need.
Donations can be dropped off at any Grey Bruce OPP detachment.
