Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP are warning residents of a new social media inspired youth crime trend.
Often referred to as the “Door Kick Challenge” or “Donkey Kick Doors,” the trend involves individuals approaching a residence and forcefully kicking the front door while another person records the act for social media before running away.
Police say the incidents frequently occur during the late evening or early morning hours…In some cases, doors, frames, and other property may be damaged as a result of the force used.
OPP are advising residents to use plenty of exterior lighting, utilize home security cameras and report any suspicious activity to police asap.
And of course police are asking parents and guardians to have a chat with their youth and advise that criminal charges could be applicable.
