Grey Highlands Council today will review a report allowing representatives of the Rotary Club of Markdale to submit a permit application to the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) for the Rotary Park Bridge replacement project.
Landowner authorization is a signed legal form that permits an agent, contractor, or lawyer to act on a property owner’s behalf for municipal or conservation permits.
Executing the SVCA landowner authorization at this stage allows the Rotary Club to advance the conservation authority permitting process while remaining municipal approvals and review requirements are addressed.
The Rotary Club of Markdale and municipal staff have discussed the engineered bridge design, permitting requirements, anticipated project timelines, and next steps required to advance the project.
Heavy snowfall caused the bridge to collapse, leading to the closure of the crossing and surrounding trail access.
The Rotary Club has confirmed it has retained professional engineering services and provided the municipality with a professionally engineered and stamped design for the proposed replacement bridge.
The proposed structure is designed to provide an accessible pedestrian crossing within Rotary Park and to meet applicable engineering and accessibility requirements.
The new structure would be funded entirely by the Rotary Club of Markdale.
