Grey Bruce Public Health is announcing its new Medical Officer of Health and CEO.
Dr. Brittany Graham has been appointed to the role after serving in an acting capacity since April.
She was named to the role full-time during Friday’s Board of Health meeting.
Board of Health Chair Kenneth Craig said in a media release that Dr. Graham has done an excellent job in the interim position.
However, it will be a while before Dr. Graham will be in the role full time, as she is expected to go on parental leave as of September 8th, and won’t be back to work until next summer.
In the meantime, the Grey Bruce Board of Health will have Dr. Eileen de Villa will be temporarily taking over as the Acting Medical Officer of Health and CEO during Graham’s absence.
Dr. de Villa said that she is honoured to take on the acting role for Medical Officer of Health, bringing her own extensive pubic health expertise.
Previously, Dr. de Villa served as Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto from 2017-2024, helping to guide the city through the COVID-19 pandemic.
More recently, she has worked as a Special Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, while Grey Bruce Public Health was without a Board of Health.
