The Municipal Finance Officers’ Association is submitting a request to permanently double a provincial funding allotment.
The request is to double the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).
Huron County Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Michael Blumhagen made a presentation to council on Wednesday requesting support for the call on the Provincial government to make the change.
The MFOA’s request to double the funding beyond 2026.
The current grant funding allocations are based on the current replacement values of municipal infrastructure assets and tie in with the asset management plans for municipalities, according to the report.
Any increase in stable funding, it says, would be welcomed, and if the commitment would be over multiple years, municipalities would have the ability to better plan for future infrastructure investments.
