Meaford council has approved a veterans crosswalk on the west side of the Nelson and Sykes street intersection.
The location aligns the crossing with the cenotaph in front of Meaford Hall.
Staff and members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 have discussed design options. While other communities use various designs, the legion command has provided a template covering font, colour and technical requirements.
The installation is estimated to cost $11,000 with a lifespan of about three years. Staff will begin procurement to complete the work in September.
