A property crime investigation by the OPP’s Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit has resulted in multiple arrests, the execution of five search warrants, and the recovery of about $137,000 worth of stolen property.
OPP say, since the spring, people Grey County, Bruce County, and surrounding areas experienced a noticeable increase in break and enter and theft-related investigations. In response, the Grey Bruce Community Street Crimes Unit launched an extensive investigation into individuals believed to be responsible for a series of property crimes throughout the area.
On June 22nd, members of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit located multiple suspects in a stolen pickup truck loaded with what OPP say was stolen property while towing a stolen tractor on the 5th Line in the Township of Melancthon. Two of the people were arrested without incident, while a third fled the area and was arrested a short time later.
On June 23rd, members of the Grey Bruce, Dufferin, Huron Perth, Brant Oxford, Haldimand, and Norfolk Community Street Crime Units, assisted by members of the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment and the West Grey Police Service, executed five search warrants at the following locations:
Residence on Grey Road 4 near Jane Street, Ceylon
Residence on Grey Road 14 near Sideroad S, Municipality of Grey Highlands
Two properties on Highway 6 near 18 Sideroad, Municipality of West Grey
Property on 6th Line near 18 Sideroad, Township of Melancthon
A 35 year old Ceylon man was charged with the following, and remanded into custody:

Break and Enter (5 counts)

A 39 year old Grey Highlands resident was charged with the following and released:

A 54 year old woman from Ceylon was charged with the following and released:

A 35 year old West Grey woman was charged with the following and released:

Investigators have successfully identified and returned, or are in the process of returning, the majority of recovered property to its rightful owners.
The investigation remains ongoing.
