With the Orange Warning for southwestern Ontario issued by Environment Canada due to very poor air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Georgian Bluffs has opened two air quality relief centres in response.
The Shallow Lake Community Centre will be open as a designated air quality relief centre during operating hours. The centre offers a comfortable, air-conditioned space where residents can take a “fresh air break” and escape the smoke and heat. Council Chambers at the Township Administration Office will also be available to the public for fresh air during business hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If you need a place to get some air, go to one of these air quality relief centres:
Shallow Lake Community Centre – Open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 14.
Council Chambers – Township Office, Grey Road 18 – Open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
