The Municipality of Brockton is announcing a new Fish Art Walking Tour in Walkerton.
It’s a collection of 12 colourful fish sculptures that celebrate the town’s connection to the Saugeen River, local artists, and the community members who call Walkerton home.
Residents and visitors can download a free Fish Art Walking Tour brochure through the municipality’s website, which is a guide to all 12 of the sculptures.
If you visit each fish, and snap a selfie, you can submit your completed photo collection for a chance to win prizes.
The grand prize is $250 in Brockton Dollars.
There are also smaller prizes in different categories, including most creative selfie, best family photo, youngest explorer, most senior explorer, and more.
The Fish Art Walking Tour can trace its roots back to 2002, when communities throughout the Saugeen River watershed collaborated to create a unique tourism attraction that was inspired by public art projects.
Artist Debbie Schenk designed five distinctive fish sculptures, which were then fabricated by Freiburger Welding, and prepared for artists by CSN Walkerton Collision.
Local artists then got to work transforming each fish sculpture into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Entries must be received by September 30th. For details, click here.
