The OPP says that the release of its latest episode of Unsolved has garnered new tips from the public surrounding the disappearance of Lois Hanna.
Hanna was last seen at around 11:45 pm on the night of Sunday, July 3, 1988, when she left the homecoming dance in Lucknow to return to her home in Kincardine.
She had left to make sure she was ready for work the next day, but she never showed up for her opening shift at the clothing store where she worked.
On Wednesday, July 6, 1988, the OPP was requested to assist with the investigation that had been started by the Kincardine police.
Investigators revealed that on the night Hanna went missing, there was a vehicle parked outside of her house on Nelson Street at around 3 am. Notably, the vehicle had round headlights, which suggests it was a model from the 1970s, as cars in the 80s had square headlights.
Police say that a credible witness heard suspicious voices and activity at the Kincardine Harbour.
On Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, the OPP released a video that featured new first-hand accounts from Hanna’s four brothers, a co-worker who had entered Hanna’s home the morning after Hanna was last seen, and one of the initial OPP detectives assigned to the case.
Since the release of the video, around 20 tips have been received from the public, and now each tip is being investigated to determine the next steps.
The Government of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to Lois Hanna’s location.
