Kincardine has moved its Canada Day fireworks to August.
The municipality initially postponed them to today, due to stormy weather on Canada Day.
They say in a Facebook update this morning, “To ensure everyone can enjoy the full fireworks experience safely, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone tonight’s fireworks.”
They’re set to take place Saturday, August 15th.
They say in their post, “We know this isn’t the news anyone was hoping for, but Mother Nature has other plans. Did you know that setting up a fireworks display begins early in the morning and continues right up until showtime? With rain and the potential for thunderstorms in the forecast throughout the day, it isn’t safe for the fireworks crew to set up the display on the pier. Following Wednesday’s severe weather, there’s also a risk of further damage to the equipment and fireworks.”
The municipality adds, “Thank you for your understanding and patience. We appreciate your support and look forward to celebrating together in August with the full fireworks display our community deserves.”
