An Owen Sound resident has received a conditional sentence following a pedestrian being run over last year.
According to the Owen Sound Sun Times, 43-year-old Christopher Little was given an 18-month conditional sentence, followed by 12 months of probation in court on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The incident happened when Little was driving his Range Rover SUV into a parking lot on 1st Avenue West, near the Marine and Rail Museum, got out of his vehicle, and approached two people sitting on a bench near the harbour wall.
An altercation ensued, and one of the people punched Little in the face. A third person had intervened, and pushed the person who threw the punch toward Little’s SUV.
Little then apparently got back into his vehicle and started to drive away, when he struck and drove over the person who had intervened.
According to reports, the victim suffered injuries to his chest, and suffers from memory issues since the incident.
The hearing was held virtually, and was heard by Justice Clayton Conlan, who accepted Little’s plea and the sentence that was recommended by the Crown attorney and the defence.
