Kincardine council has approved the community improvement plan funding for community applications.
The first application intake of the year resulted in three organizations being approved for a combined $62,500.
That funding represents $1 million in proposed private investment.
Each applicant organization was then scored by the scoring committee on their project’s alignment with the program’s objectives, project readiness, and their projects had to demonstrate community benefit.
Evan Vatri, Community Economic Development Officer, explained to council, “All of our applicants scored extremely high as part of the scoring committee… it was a very tough selection.”
Three applications that were approved under the Start-up Space Leasehold Improvement Program have been awarded to Lake Huron Home for $17,500, Huron Shores Orthodontics for $10,000, and $35,000 went to The Beefway, combining for $62,500.
Other applications that were submitted did show potential, but required additional information or needed better alignment with the initiative before they could be approved for funding.
The CIP has a remaining $37,500 available for the Municipality of Kincardine’s second intake. Staff recommended to council that Intake 2 will be open until July 10, with recommendations being made to council at the July 22nd meeting.
