Saugeen Shores police have charged a man after a disturbance at a restaurant.
They say on Tuesday, June 23rd just after 8:30 a.m. they were called about a man in a parking lot of a Port Elgin restaurant threatening to punch customers.
They say he left the parking lot on foot, then a second call came in alleging the same man had stolen a purse from a crossing guard booth in the area of Catherine and Goderich Streets.
According to police, officers quickly located the man who they say is well known to police six minutes later and placed him under arrest.
As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with causing disturbance, theft under $5000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
They say he has had 17 police involved incidents this month.
He was held for a bail hearing and released by the courts on a release order with a future court date.
Officers returned the purse to its owner.
