The 13U Jr Baysox may have come up just short in the Championship Final against a talented Riverside 12U AAA squad (the 2025 11U AAA OBA Champions), but there is plenty to be proud of after a tremendous weekend at the Rob & Tricia Morneau Memorial Tournament in Riverside this past weekend.
Competing in a 7-team, 3-game guaranteed mixed round robin format (with 13U teams A-C and the 12U AAA squad), the Jr Baysox earned a 2nd Place finish, showcasing the grit, resilience, and growth that has become the identity of this team.
What makes the accomplishment even more impressive is the path they took to get there. The Jr Baysox drew what would ultimately prove to be the toughest round robin schedule, facing all three of the other eventual Semi Finalists.
After battling the eventual tournament champions, Riverside, to a tie on Saturday afternoon, the team punched its ticket to the Final Four.
The Semi Finals provided another opportunity to demonstrate this group’s character. After suffering their only round robin loss to the LaSalle Titans, the Jr Baysox responded with a determined and resilient effort to earn redemption against the Titans on Sunday morning, securing their spot in the Championship Game.
Throughout the weekend, we saw: Timely hitting and productive at-bats¸ strong pitching performances¸ players competing for one another every inning and families coming together and representing #BaysoxNation with pride.
While the championship trophy stayed in Riverside, the experience gained, confidence built, and memories created made this a successful weekend for our 2013/2014 Rep Jr Baysox as they continue their upward trajectory.
The Jr Baysox return to game action on Monday, June 29th as they host the Saugeen Shores Sting at Balmy Beach. 8 p.m. first pitch.
