The fifth annual Race for REACH was hosted Saturday by the REACH Centre Grey Bruce.
This family-friendly fundraising event helps support programming for youth and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Taking place behind the Bayshore Community Centre, the event drew more than 100 participants, including people from the program itself.
“Being able to see them be part of something that celebrates who they are and their capabilities,” says Executive Director at the REACH Centre Jennifer Miller. “I think it’s really, really important for their sense of confidence and belonging.”
The REACH Centre Grey Bruce does not receive government funding, making corporate sponsors key to its success.
“It’s almost surreal for me, having been with the agency for quite some time,” Miller says. “To see that level of support and engagement – the quality and calibre of businesses and organizations that really stepped up to support us – is awesome.”
