A Chatsworth woman has won nearly $78,000 playing the lottery.
Karen W. won the top prize in the Diamond 7s scratch ticket game.
Karen, a 71 year old retiree initially thought she won $77.
She told the OLG when picking up her prize, “I immediately took a picture of the ticket and sent it to my husband, saying, ‘I won $77!’” she recalled, adding, “He texted me back and said, ‘That’s not $77 — it’s $77,000!’”
The 71-year-old sent the same photo to her two daughters to share the news of her windfall. “Winning big feels wonderful,” she said. “I’ve always dreamed of this!”
She says she plans to celebrate her $77,777 win with a shopping spree. She looks forward to buying a new barbecue, new cellphones for her and her husband, groceries, and a nice new pair of shoes. “I’m going to treat myself to comfortable sandals,” even if they’re not on sale.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Food Basics on 16th Street East in Owen Sound.
