The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library will host a launch party for the TD Summer Reading Club on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As a stop on this year’s ArtWalk, the library is also inviting visitors to create a watercolour fish to be included in its summer mural. Registration for the reading club continues throughout the summer.
In addition to the club, library members can enjoy a wide variety of free children’s programming. The Weekly Wacky Wednesday programs will run from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in July and August.
New this year, the library is introducing STEAMworks Studio, a program for youth in grades 3 to 6, with sessions running from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on July 6, July 20 and Aug. 10.
Participants in the program will collaborate on engineering challenges, utilizing recycled materials to design and build model towers, ball runs and rafts.
Other programs on the summer schedule include Sew Cute for grades 4 to 8, where children will learn to hand-sew, as well as Story Tent and Babytime for the youngest library members.
