After a donation from the Tyson Downs Association (TDBeAT), with support from the Owen Sound Attack, the City of Owen Sound has announced the installation of a new public-access automated external defibrillator (AED SaveStation) at Harrison Park.
This installation of the AED is in honour of Tyson Downs, who passed at a young age from sudden cardiac arrest in 2023. His passing inspired family and friends to take action, starting the TDBeAT which offers free CPR and AED awareness training and education to youth aged 16 to 21, helping equip the next generation with the skills and confidence to respond in critical situations.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. beside the AED SaveStation to officially unveil the life-saving equipment.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and learn more about this important initiative. Action First Aid will be on hand to demonstrate how the AED works and how easy it is to use.
Located on the north wall of the Harrison Park Inn restaurant, the AED SaveStation provides 24/7 access to life-saving equipment in one of the community’s busiest outdoor destinations.
The SaveStation outdoor cabinet, which houses the AED, is monitored 24/7 through cellular technology and designed to be accessible in all weather conditions.
