No one was injured in a residential fire in Kincardine Wednesday.
Fire Chief Guy Gallant says Kincardine Fire Emergency Services (KFES) Stations 12 and 11 were paged at 5 a.m. for a possible structure fire in a 5 unit housing complex.
Kincardine Avenue was closed for the response.
On arrival crews reported a working fire in one of the units.
Gallant says, “Fire crews entered the structure and made a quick knock down of the fire containing the fire to the bedroom of one unit.”
He says residents of the complex were displaced for most of the day, and three of the five units were able to return home Wednesday night.
He adds, “Kincardine Fire and Emergency Service would like to thank Ross Young Bus Lines for assisting with the displaced occupants by providing a bus for shelter and our Mutual aid Partners the Ripley Fire Station of Huron Kinloss and Grey Bruce Victim Services for their assistance.”
Gallant says they continue to investigate the possible cause of the fire.
He says, “Working smoke alarms provided early warning to the fire and allowed the residents to escape to safety. KFES wants to to remind the public to check your alarms to ensure they will work – it’s a matter of life and death.”
