The fourth annual Cobble Beach Lighthouse Fun Run was held in April, as 386 participants gathered at Cobble Beach for a day of fitness, connection and giving back.
This year’s event raised more than $9,000, with proceeds shared between the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey, Bruce and West Simcoe.
“The Lighthouse Fun Run is a wonderful example of what can happen when community partners come together to make a difference,” says CEO of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Sarah Cowley. “Every dollar received supports the YMCA’s Strong Communities Fund, ensuring individuals and families can access programs and services regardless of their financial barriers. As the need for financial assistance continues to grow, these funds help people build confidence, improve their well-being and ignite their potential. We are grateful to Cobble Beach, Big Brothers Big Sisters, our sponsors, volunteers and participants for making this event possible.”
Presented through a partnership between Cobble Beach, the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey, Bruce and West Simcoe, the annual event continues to grow as a celebration of community while raising funds to support programs that strengthen lives across the region.
“We are proud to partner with the YMCA and Cobble Beach on an event that not only brings people together through health and recreation, but also generates vital support for programs that help children and youth thrive. Every participant, volunteer and sponsor has played a role in creating brighter futures for young people across our region.” says Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey, Bruce and West Simcoe Beth Aubrey.
New additions to this year’s event included a kids’ one-kilometre fun run and a 10-kilometre race.
