Hanover Police say they have arrested a man who was allegedly looking into people’s windows yesterday before being invloved in a break-and-enter in the same area.
Police say, on Wednesday, May 20th they received multiple reports involving a suspicious male in the area of 4th Street Crescent and 2nd Avenue.
According to police, residents reported a man looking into windows and walking through backyards of residential properties during the mid morning hours.
Later that afternoon, police responded to a reported break-and-enter at a residence on 4th Street Crescent. Through the course of the investigations, officers identified the suspect and were actively searching for him.
They say, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police canine unit and Emergency Response Team officers, the suspect was located and arrested after a foot chase near the ESSO on 2nd Street.
He was arrested in the backyard of a residence on 11th Avenue South, known locally as the Whaling subdivision.
Police say they seized stolen property located on the suspect from the residential break in, break and enter tools, stolen identity documents, stolen credit cards, and an edged weapon.
Police say further investigation determined he was released from custody on May 16th for other crimes and is again facing additional charges from the Owen Sound Police Service.
As a result of the investigation, the man is charged with break, enter and theft, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break and enter instruments, possession of identity documents, Possession of a stolen credit card, and failure to comply with a release order.
