Two high ranking Owen Sound Police have been named members of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by the Governor General of Canada.
Chief Craig Ambrose and Deputy Chief David Bishop were among 64 appointees who received the honour by outgoing Governor General Mary Simon during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
Ambrose was nominated by Owen Sound Police Board Chair John Thomson, while Bishop was nominated by Ambrose.
Ambrose joined the city force as chief in January 2019 after close to 30 years with the Waterloo Police.
Bishop, who also spent 30 plus years with Waterloo Police, came to Owen Sound as an inspector later in 2019 before becoming Deputy Chief last year.
