The Saugeen Shores Hall of Fame will be inducting four new members to the hall in early June.
Bill Streeter will be going in as a builder for “significantly and selflessly preserving the history, identity, and collective memory of Saugeen Shores.” says the SSHOF biography.
Launa Smith, a cornhole athlete, is a three-time Canada Throw’s Female Player of the year, she was also first female drafted to an ACL Pro team, playing for the Toronto Towers.
Jeff Virgo, a wheelchair athlete, has competed in swimming, kayaking, volleyball, tennis, track, archery among many other events.
Joe, Rick, and Peter Ens all played hockey at various levels including all of them playing at the NCAA level.
“It’s a premier event,” says Saugeen Shores Hall of Fame Committee member Wayne McGrath. “It’s a recognition of someone who has taken a step above and that just adds strength to any community.”
The banquet will be on June 3 with a social hour at 6 p.m. with a roast beef dinner after.
McGrath continues: “It is so special. Saugeen Shores has wonderful people from present day to the past.”
