The Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus had formalized its new partnership with the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative.
The two groups entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to address shared regional challenges such as water quality and climate change, while advancing on economic growth in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence region.
WOWC chair Marcus Ryan said in a media release that the partnership reflects the importance of working together across jurisdictions to address shared challenges and create new opportunities for the communities that surround and depend on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.
He added that by strengthening collaboration the the GLSLCI, they’re reinforcing Western Ontario’s role in supporting economic growth, protecting freshwater resources, and building strong communities for the future.
The Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus represents 15 upper and single-tier municipalities across Western Ontario, serving approximately 300 communities and more than 20 percent of Ontario’s population.
