The Bluewater District School Board has hired a new superintendent of education.
Papy Mukenge will take on the role effective August 1. A statement from the school board says he has over 20 years of experience in education across Ontario and internationally.
Mukenge has lived in Bruce County since 2017 with his wife and three children. He has spent most of the past decade at Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, serving as vice-principal, principal, and most recently, Acting Superintendent of Education.
“Throughout his career, Papy has demonstrated a strong commitment to equity, inclusive education, and student achievement, with a focus on creating learning environments where every student feels a sense of belonging and is supported to succeed,” a release from the Bluewater Board says. “He brings valuable global perspective through his leadership roles as Principal of the Canadian International School of Egypt and Middle School Principal at Haven of Peace Academy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.”
Mukenge says in a prepared statement: “It is an honour to join Bluewater District School Board and to serve its students, staff, families, and communities. I believe that public education plays a vital role in advancing equity, fostering inclusion, and supporting the success and well-being of every learner. My commitment is to work collaboratively with educators, families, and community partners, including Indigenous communities, to create learning environments that are responsive, culturally relevant, and grounded in respect, relationships, and high expectations for all. I look forward to building on the strong foundation within Bluewater to support student achievement, promote well-being, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
The board says Mukenge will oversee an area of schools and manage a portfolio of system duties in his role as superintendent of education.
