Municipalities are now accepting nominations for the 2026 election, set for October 26th.
The nomination period runs from today to August 21st.
If you’re interested in running for council or school board trustee, you can now pick up a candidate information package, available in person at your local municipal office during regular business hours or online anytime.
As of 1 p.m., Friday May 1st, a few people are listed as unofficial candidates.
In Owen Sound so far, Richard Thomas has entered his name as an unofficial candidate for mayor.
Cheryl Grace plans to run for a council seat in Southampton Ward in Saugeen Shores.
In Meaford, Shirley Keaveney intends to run for mayor.
In Grey Highlands Dane Nielsen is planning to run for mayor.
In South Bruce Peninsula, Caleb Hull has entered his name for deputy mayor.
In Southgate, Brian Milne is set to run for mayor again and Barbara Dobreen is running for deputy mayor, while Joan John is running for council.
In Brockton, Tim Elphick is listed as running for deputy mayor, and Steve Travale is running for a council seat.
A few local municipalities haven’t updated their election pages yet, and others have no one on their lists for 2026 yet.
All of those candidates are unofficial.
