Bruce County is celebrating the first anniversary of its Energy Transition Initiative, a program designed to help local businesses explore cleaner, lower-carbon energy solutions.
Partially funded by the Government of Ontario, the initiative launched in March 2025 and has engaged more than 450 businesses across the county.
During its first year, the program delivered workshops and training sessions, supported projects involving solar energy, heat pumps, geothermal systems and emerging technologies, and created an Energy Transition Toolkit to help businesses plan future investments.
The county also hosted its first Energy Transition Showcase, featuring demonstrations and peer learning opportunities.
Economic Development Manager Heather Hyde says the initiative focuses on meeting businesses where they are and providing practical support that benefits companies, communities and the local economy.
The county says the program will continue expanding training opportunities, consultations and pilot projects in the year ahead.
Businesses interested in participating can apply for a free high-level energy assessment, request a one-on-one consultation, or volunteer as a host site.
