Bruce County residents considering a run for municipal council or school board trustee in the 2026 election are invited to attend a Candidates’ Information Night.
The practical workshop is designed to give prospective candidates a realistic understanding of what it means to serve as an elected official before deciding to run in the municipal and school board election set for October 26, 2026.
Topics to be covered include:
- How municipal government works
- Roles and responsibilities of council members
- Ethical and legal obligations of public office
- Campaign requirements
- Time and financial commitments
- The realities of public life
Organizers say the session is meant to provide participants with the tools to decide whether public service is the right fit and to help those who choose to run do so confidently and responsibly.
The workshop is being delivered in partnership with the County of Bruce, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, Municipality of Brockton, Township of Huron-Kinloss, Municipality of South Bruce, Municipality of Kincardine, Town of Saugeen Shores, Town of South Bruce Peninsula, and Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
