The Hanover Police Service has arrested two local men in connection with a series of “door kick” incidents that took place in late March.
Police say the incidents occurred around 9:00 p.m. on March 29 in residential subdivisions in the northeast corner of Hanover. Suspects were reported kicking in front doors and setting off fireworks in neighbourhoods.
In one incident, the door of a home was breached before the suspects fled. In a second case, a door was kicked but remained intact. Investigators determined the incidents were random, and the victims were not known to one another.
Following an investigation, officers identified and arrested two Hanover men, aged 19 and 21, without incident. Both have been charged with three counts of mischief and two counts of trespassing at night.
The accused were released from custody with conditions and are scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton.
Police are thanking members of the public who provided information, including video surveillance, which assisted in the investigation.
The Hanover Police Service is also encouraging residents to register their cameras through the CamSafe program, which helps investigators identify potential video sources during investigations.
